Show Notes

This Saturday, September 28th, we’ll be saying goodbye tand celebrating one of our own: Eugene “Ed” Denson. Ed, host of KMUD’s The Rights Organization and Don't Get Trouble on Your Mind, passed away in April at the age of 84, next to his beloved wife, Mary Alice at their Alderpoint hime. A true local legend, Ed’s influence stretched far beyond the airwaves. From managing renowned artists and running Kicking Mule Records, to playing a pivotal role in the civil rights movement and advocating for our community during the CAMP raids, his legacy is one of tireless dedication. As president of the Civil Liberties Monitoring Project and an attorney defending marijuana rights, he fought for justice in Southern Humboldt for decades. Join the KMUD family and all who knew Ed for a Celebration of Life at the Southern Humboldt Community Park in Garberville from 2 to 7 p.m. Follow the signs for "Ed." Bring food, flowers, or memorabilia to share, and let’s celebrate Ed’s life the way he would’ve wanted—with community, music, and memories. Musical tributes will be provided by Barry "The Fish" Melton, Camo Cowboys, and more.
